Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:18-20
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” – Acts 1:8
Jesus already established the mission for his church. A mission that we a affirm as we seek to worship and glorify God. It is a mission to Go and to Grow
To Go: We strive to share the Gospel with those who don't know Jesus. We do this not only by our words but also by our actions wherever He places us.
To Grow: We are not only called to share, but to disciple. Discipleship happens when believers are in the Bible together, in Prayer together, in Community together, and in Life together as they Grow in Christ together.
At Calvary, with everything we do we seek to experience Jesus and invite others to do the same!.We do this by being who we are: works in progress, the unworthy pointing to the one who is worthy who was slain...all by relying on the Holy Spirit!
He said to him, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and most important command. The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. -Matthew 22:37-39
“I give you a new command: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” - John 13:34-35
Love God with all of our being, Love people as ourselves, Love our fellow believers as Jesus loves them. Everything we do should be rooted in and in expressing love...first love for God above all else, loving people as ourselves, and love for each other as Christ loves us.
In a spiritually healthy church, members strike a balance between being discipled and serving others. At Calvary, we ask our members to focus on one discipleship opportunity and one service avenue for holistic growth.
The Cup: Represents personal discipleship and spiritual nourishment. Designed for being filled up with faith and grace, sustaining one's journey.
The Pitcher: Symbolizes serving others. Filled with the same spiritual substance, it’s meant to pour out into others' lives.
What is your cup? What is your pitcher?
